Oversized and XXL Caps for Big Heads: The Full 2026 Guide

If your head measures 62 cm around or more, you need a cap that actually fits. Most models on the high street stop somewhere around 58 cm, and anything from 59 cm upwards either pinches, perches on top of your crown, or just won't fasten. Head of Wonder picks up where the others give up. Our XL range is built around a 61 cm head and sits comfortably anywhere from 60 to 63 cm.
I started the brand because I spent years unable to find a cap that fit my own head. I measure 62 cm, and everything was too small, everything pinched, or it just looked wrong. In this guide I'll walk through what oversized and XXL actually mean, which cuts and materials we make, how to measure your head properly, and how the individual models differ.
One thing worth saying upfront: the 62 cm you might be Googling sits right in the middle of our 60 to 63 cm range. Any of our XL models will fit you. If you're above 63 cm, skip to the XXL section — for now that's a single cut.
Quick answer
An oversized cap covers head circumferences from 60 to 63 cm in XL and from 62 to 65 cm in XXL. Head of Wonder makes them for people who never get a proper fit from standard models, which typically stop around 58 cm. I run the brand myself, have a 62 cm head, and spent years hunting for a cap that fit. The Minimalist line is approx. €27.95; caps with the HEAD OF WONDER embroidery are approx. €33.35. XXL currently exists in a single model: the black minimalist trucker for 62 to 65 cm.

How to tell you need an oversized size
- Your head measures 60 cm or more and standard one-size models perch on top of your head.
- You can't fasten a snapback on the last notch, or it only holds on the first.
- You get a red mark on your forehead when you take a regular cap off.
- In shops you keep telling yourself they simply don't make hats for people like you.
- You've been adjusting the cap to your head rather than the other way around.
- You've worked out the problem isn't your head — it's the size of the cap.
XL cap styles we make
- Baseball cap: structured cut with a stiff front panel and a slightly curved brim.
- Snapback: firm crown, flat brim, six-panel build with a strong urban look.
- Trucker: solid front panel with mesh at the back for maximum airflow, ideal for summer.
- Dad hat: soft, unstructured crown with a metal buckle at the back and a gently curved brim.
- Minimalist line: the same cuts without visible embroidery, cleaner look, lower price.
- Our only XXL so far: the black minimalist trucker for 62 to 65 cm.
- You'll find everything in one place in the XL cap collection.
Materials: what Head of Wonder caps are made of
Most models are 100% organic cotton. I chose cotton because it sits well against the skin, moulds to the head over time, and holds up to daily wear without looking tired after a few weeks.
The one model where I reach for a second material is the trucker. It has breathable mesh at the back so your head can breathe in the heat, while the front panel stays firm and holds its shape. The other styles — baseball, snapback, dad hat — are all-cotton, no mesh.
I don't chase any more materials than that. I'd rather stick with a handful of proven fabrics I know how to work with properly than a sprawling catalogue no one can make sense of.
How to measure your head circumference properly
- Grab a tailor's tape, or an ordinary piece of string and a ruler.
- Wrap the tape around your head just above your ears, across the widest part of your forehead.
- Hold it snug, but not tight. You should be able to slide one finger comfortably under the tape.
- Read off the number in centimetres and take the measurement twice to be sure.
- If you're on the border between two sizes, go up. Comfort wins.
- Don't measure over hair pulled into a bun or ponytail. Wear it the way you normally would under a cap.
- For a proper walk-through with photos, see the size guide.
Why we currently only make XXL in one model
For now XXL exists in a single cut: the trucker for big heads in the black minimalist version, fitting 62 to 65 cm. Every other style is XL, covering 60 to 63 cm.
I started with the trucker because it's the most versatile of the cuts. The snapback closure and lighter build let it cover a wider range than, say, a baseball cap with a strapback buckle. It's also the model people over 63 cm ask about most often.
More XXL models will follow. If your head measures 64 cm or more and you'd like, say, a snapback, drop me a line at dominik@headofwonder.com. Messages like that decide the order in which new cuts get added.
What an XL or XXL cap costs and what you get for it
There are two price tiers. The Minimalist line, which includes the one XXL trucker, is approx. €27.95. Caps with the HEAD OF WONDER embroidery — baseball, snapback, dad hat, trucker — are approx. €33.35. The difference is simply whether the cap carries a visible logo on the front panel.
For that you get 100% organic cotton, honest workmanship, and shipping from our Prague warehouse, usually within two working days. Delivery across the EU is free on orders over €50 or the local equivalent.
If a cap doesn't fit, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. The return address and exact steps live on the need advice page, or I'll happily send them over by email.
When this fits — and when it doesn't
Choose this if
- Your head measures 60 to 63 cm and you want a cap that finally fits.
- You want a classic snapback, trucker, dad hat or baseball cap in XL, no compromises on size.
- You want 100% organic cotton and clean cuts without a loud logo (the Minimalist line at approx. €27.95).
- You want your order shipped from Prague with EU-wide delivery and 14-day returns.
- Your head measures 62 to 65 cm and you specifically want the trucker in the black minimalist version.
Look elsewhere if
- Your head measures under 60 cm. In that case standard sizes will fit you and our XL would be too big.
- Your head measures over 65 cm. Our XXL stops at 65 cm and we don't make anything larger yet.
- You're after a winter knit beanie. This guide is about caps; beanies live in a different collection.
- You need delivery outside the EU. We don't yet ship to the UK, Switzerland, Norway or the US.
- You want XXL in a style other than the trucker. For now, XXL only comes as the black minimalist trucker.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Head of Wonder XL cap fit me if my head measures 62 cm?
Yes. A 62 cm circumference sits right in the middle of the 60 to 63 cm range the whole XL line is built for. We design around a 61 cm centre point, but thanks to the adjustable closure — buckle, snapback or hook-and-loop — you have plenty of room to fine-tune the fit. The cap should sit snug but without pressure. You should be able to slide one finger comfortably under the band, and there shouldn't be a red mark on your forehead after you take it off.
What's the difference between XL and XXL at Head of Wonder?
XL covers head circumferences from 60 to 63 cm and is built around a 61 cm centre point. XXL covers 62 to 65 cm. Every style is available in XL (baseball, snapback, dad hat, trucker), while XXL currently exists in a single model: the black minimalist trucker. If your head falls in the 62 to 63 cm range, both will fit you. From 64 cm upwards, I'd go straight to XXL.
Which styles is XXL available in?
Just one for now. We make XXL as the black minimalist trucker, for head circumferences from 62 to 65 cm. The other styles (baseball, snapback, dad hat) are XL only, covering 60 to 63 cm. If your head is over 63 cm and you want a cut other than the trucker, drop me a line at dominik@headofwonder.com. I add new models based on which ones people ask about the most.
How much do XL and XXL caps cost?
There are two price tiers. The Minimalist line, which includes the one XXL trucker, is approx. €27.95. Caps with the HEAD OF WONDER embroidery — baseball, snapback, dad hat, trucker — are approx. €33.35. For that you get 100% organic cotton, honest workmanship, and shipping from our Prague warehouse within two working days. Delivery across the EU is free on orders over €50 or the local equivalent.
How do I measure my head circumference?
Use a tailor's tape, or take an ordinary piece of string and a ruler. Wrap the tape just above your ears, across the widest part of your forehead. Hold it snug but not tight. You should be able to slide one finger comfortably under the band. Read off the number in centimetres and take the measurement twice to be sure. If you're between two sizes, go up. Comfort wins. For a proper walk-through with photos, see the size guide.
What if the cap doesn't fit?
You can return it within 14 days of delivery. Email info@headofwonder.com with your name and order number and we'll sort out the next steps. The cap needs to be unworn and free from signs of use. Return shipping is on you. Once it lands with us, we'll check it over within a week and refund you by the same method you paid with.
Where do you ship from and how fast?
Everything ships from our Prague warehouse, usually within two working days of receiving your order. Delivery within Czechia typically takes one to two working days after dispatch. Delivery across the EU takes roughly three to seven working days depending on the destination and carrier. We ship to every EU country. Outside the EU (the UK, Switzerland, Norway, the US) we don't yet deliver.
What material are the caps made from?
Most models are 100% organic cotton. The one exception is the trucker, which has breathable mesh at the back for better airflow. The trucker's front panel is still firm and holds its shape. I chose organic cotton because it sits well against the skin, moulds to the head over time, and holds up to daily wear. I don't chase any more materials than that.
Will the XXL trucker fit me if my head measures 66 cm?
Unfortunately not. Our XXL is built for 62 to 65 cm, and above 65 cm the snapback closure won't tighten to a comfortable position. We don't yet make anything larger. If your head is 66 cm or more, drop me a line at dominik@headofwonder.com. I collect these requests and add new cuts based on demand. Until then, I honestly can't point you to anything in the current range.
Methodology
The data for this guide comes from the Head of Wonder product catalogue on Shopify (prices and size ranges verified on 17 July 2026) and the public hat-size reference table on Wikipedia. Prices, availability of each XXL model, and the full XL range match what's currently in the shop. I run the brand myself — I'm Dominik, my own head measures 62 cm, and I wrote this guide from personal experience of hunting for a cap that actually fits.
