62 cm cap: the complete sizing guide (2026)

The world is full of wonder — and one of its small wonders is finally putting on a cap that fits. If you typed "cap 62 cm" into a search bar, chances are you have a few failed attempts behind you and you're looking for a number you can actually rely on. That number is your head circumference. And 62 cm is a perfectly ordinary size that most shops won't carry.
I'm Dominik, and I started Head of Wonder for one reason: so I could finally buy a cap that fit my own head. For years I tried brands that topped out around 58 cm, pulled snapbacks to the last setting, and still ended up with a cap perched on top of my head rather than sitting around it. What follows is the full 2026 guide to the 62 cm size: what the number actually means, how to measure properly, which style to pick, and when you're better off looking elsewhere.
Our XL is built around a 61 cm circumference and sits comfortably anywhere between 60 and 63 cm. 62 cm lands right in the middle of that range, where the cap neither floats nor squeezes.
Quick answer
A 62 cm cap is a cap with an internal circumference around 62 cm, made to sit on heads measuring between 60 and 63 cm. At Head of Wonder we make one size, built around a 61 cm circumference, and 62 cm lands right in the middle of its range. This isn't a stretched standard or a compromise: deeper crown, wider internal sweatband, and a closure with plenty of room for a larger head. If you searched for "cap 62 cm", you're in the right place. No compromises.
Key takeaways
- Head of Wonder makes one XL size built around a 61 cm circumference, sitting comfortably between 60 and 63 cm.
- 62 cm lands right in the middle of our range, so the cap was practically made for that measurement.
- Standard "one size" caps tend to top out around 58 cm, which is why they pinch on heads from 60 cm up.
- Measure your head about 1 cm above the eyebrows and ears, across the widest part of the forehead.
- The range covers four styles: snapback, baseball cap, dad hat and trucker.
- The main fabric is organic cotton; the trucker adds a polyester mesh back panel.
- We ship across the EU from Prague; within Czechia, delivery is usually 1 to 2 working days after dispatch.
- An XXL for heads of 64 cm and up is on the way; it isn't in the range yet.
What "cap 62 cm" actually means
When someone searches for "cap 62 cm", it usually comes from one of two places. Either they measured their head and got 62, or they have a few disappointing purchases behind them and want a number that finally works. Both paths lead to the same place: you need a cap that's larger than the usual "one size", but not so large that it floats around.
At Head of Wonder we make XL caps in a single size, built around a 61 cm circumference. They sit comfortably on anyone whose head measures between 60 and 63 cm. 62 cm lands right in the middle of that range, where the cap doesn't float and doesn't squeeze. It isn't a stretched standard. It's a pattern cut for larger heads from the start.
How to measure your head properly
- Grab a soft tape measure, or a piece of string and a ruler. You don't need anything else.
- Wrap it around your head about 1 cm above your ears, across the widest part of your forehead.
- The tape sits snug, not tight, with room to slide one finger underneath comfortably.
- Measure with your hair in its normal position, not pulled back in a bun or ponytail.
- Measure twice; if the numbers differ, take the higher one.
- If you ended up at 62 cm, you're right in the middle of our range (60 to 63 cm).
- If you fall between two sizes, go for the larger one. Comfort matters more than an exact number.
The XL styles in the range and how they differ
- Snapback XL: structured six-panel crown, flat brim and a plastic snap closure at the back. Holds its shape and brings a clean, urban edge.
- Baseball cap XL: a structured cut with a stiff front panel and a slightly curved brim. A classic that works with anything.
- Dad hat XL: soft, unstructured crown with a metal buckle at the back. Comfortable from the first wear.
- Trucker XL: firm front panel and a polyester mesh back, so your head can breathe. The summer pick.
- All four cover 60 to 63 cm and use adjustable closures: a snapback, a metal buckle or a plastic strap.
- For a specific example, take a look at the classic trucker cap in black: organic cotton at the front, mesh at the back.
Materials and construction
The main fabric across our caps is organic cotton. It feels good to the touch, holds its shape well, and after a few days of wear it starts to mould to your head. The snapback, baseball cap and dad hat are organic cotton throughout. The trucker pairs a sturdy cotton front with a polyester mesh back that lets heat and moisture out, which is exactly why it's the pick for summer and warm weather. No technical blends, no luxury theatre. One honest fabric, plus mesh on the trucker where it actually earns its place.
Construction varies by style. The snapback and the baseball cap have a reinforced front panel that keeps its shape after months of daily wear. The dad hat is the opposite: a softer, unstructured crown that folds easily into a bag. The trucker bridges the two, with a firm front and a mesh back. What they all share is a deeper crown and a longer adjustment range, so the cap sits around your head, not on top of it.
How to tell whether a cap actually fits
- It sits snug, not tight. You can slide one finger comfortably between your forehead and the inner band.
- When you take it off, there's no red mark on your forehead.
- The crown wraps around your head, rather than just resting on top.
- The brim points straight ahead, not upwards the way it does on a cap that's too small.
- The snapback fastens before you reach the last position. You still have room to fine-tune.
- In normal movement, whether you're walking or tilting your head back, the cap doesn't slide or slip off.
When you're between sizes or outside our range
If you measured 59 cm, you're just below our lower limit. Our XL will probably feel a touch loose; it depends how far you take the closure in and how much hair you have. In that case it's worth looking at a standard L from brands that top out around 59 cm. Above 63 cm the current range falls short; our XXL for 64 cm is still in the works.
If you're right on the edge (say 60 or 63 cm), feel free to go with our XL. The closure has enough positions to bring the cap to your exact circumference. For more on how to think about sizing in general when ordinary measurements don't work for you, see the guide to caps for big heads.
When this fits — and when it doesn't
Choose this if
- Your head circumference falls between 60 and 63 cm.
- Standard "one size" caps pinch on you, or sit too high on your head.
- You want a single size built for larger heads, not a stretched standard.
- You want to choose from four styles (snapback, baseball cap, dad hat, trucker) in the same size.
- You're shipping within the EU and you want fast dispatch from Prague.
Look elsewhere if
- Your head circumference is 59 cm or less. Our XL will be a touch loose; try a standard L instead.
- Your head circumference is 64 cm or more. We can't cover you here yet; the XXL is still on the way.
- You're looking for a winter beanie or knit hat. That's a different category altogether.
- You need delivery outside the EU. We don't ship to the UK, Switzerland, Norway or the US.
- You want a strictly fitted street-style cap in a fixed, non-adjustable size. All our models have adjustable closures.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a 62 cm cap and who does it fit?
A 62 cm cap is a cap cut to fit a head with a 62 cm circumference comfortably. In practice that means a pattern that sits well across a wider band around that measurement; at Head of Wonder, between 60 and 63 cm. Our XL is built around a 61 cm circumference, and 62 cm lands right in the middle of its range. If you're in that band, you can count on the cap neither pinching nor floating. The exact fit is then fine-tuned with the adjustable closure.
Will a 62 cm cap fit me if my head measures 61 or 63 cm?
Yes. Our XL is built around a 61 cm circumference and sits comfortably across the 60 to 63 cm range. At 61 cm you're right at the centre of what the cap was made for. At 63 cm you're at the upper edge, but still comfortably in range; you'd let the closure out to the last or second-to-last position. The snapback, the metal buckle and the plastic strap all have enough range to bring the cap snug without pinching.
How do I measure my head circumference properly?
Wrap a soft tape measure around your head about 1 cm above your ears and across the widest part of your forehead. Let the tape sit snug, not tight; you should be able to slide one finger underneath comfortably. Measure with your hair in its normal position (not pulled back in a bun) and do it twice. If the readings differ, take the higher one. If you don't have a tape measure to hand, use a piece of string and measure its length with a ruler. A more detailed walk-through with photos is in the article on measuring your head.
What's the difference between a 62 cm cap and a standard "one size"?
Ordinary "one size fits all" caps usually top out around 58 cm. That means on a 62 cm head the closure runs out of room before the cap actually fits, or the cap sits on top of your head instead of around it. Our XL is built from the ground up for larger circumferences: deeper crown, wider inner sweatband, and a longer closure with plenty of positions. It isn't a stretched standard; it's a different cut. In short, a cap that wraps around your head rather than perching on top of it.
What are the caps made from?
The main fabric is organic cotton. It holds its shape, it feels good to the touch, and after a few days of wear it starts to mould to your head. The snapback, baseball cap and dad hat are organic cotton throughout. The trucker adds a polyester mesh back that lets heat and moisture out, which is why the trucker suits summer and warm weather. No technical blends, no luxury theatre. One honest fabric, plus mesh on the trucker exactly where it earns its place.
Which XL styles can I choose from?
We currently offer four styles, all in XL for head circumferences from 60 to 63 cm. The snapback has a structured crown and a flat brim, an urban shape that holds its form. The baseball cap is structured too, with a stiff front panel and a slightly curved brim. The dad hat is soft and unstructured, with a metal buckle at the back, comfortable from the first wear. The trucker pairs a firm front with mesh at the back for maximum breathability and suits summer best.
Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?
We ship from Prague to every country in the EU. Within Czechia delivery is usually 1 to 2 working days after dispatch; elsewhere in the EU it's typically 3 to 7 working days, depending on country and carrier. We don't ship outside the EU yet (no UK, Switzerland, Norway or US). Orders go out within two working days of being placed. On larger orders shipping is free; the exact threshold and rate appear in the basket once you've entered your address.
What if the cap arrives damaged or doesn't fit?
If a cap arrives damaged, send a photo to info@headofwonder.com along with the order number and we'll dispatch a new one free of charge straight away. You don't have to send the damaged one back. If it doesn't fit, you have two weeks from delivery to return it. Just write to the same address; the cap needs to be in new, unworn condition. Once the parcel comes back, we'll check everything within a week and refund you via the same payment method you used at checkout.
Are there caps for heads above 63 cm?
We don't have an XXL yet. It's in the pipeline as our next size, built around a 64 cm circumference with a comfortable fit across 63 to 65 cm. If your head measures 64 cm or more, it's worth holding on. The XL would most likely pinch on you and the closure wouldn't fully fasten. In the meantime, have a look at the guide to caps for big heads, where I write about how to think about sizing when ordinary measurements don't work for you, and what to do until the XXL arrives.
Methodology
This guide rests on two sources. I went through our own Shopify order data at Head of Wonder to see how real XL orders spread across Europe and which countries ask for larger circumferences most often. For the conversion between centimetres and the usual letter sizes, I used the comparative hat-sizing table on Wikipedia. Real sales data and one publicly verifiable reference; nothing more was needed.
