Why women wear our XL caps too (and why we didn't expect it)

Something we didn't expect
When we started Head of Wonder, we had a clear target audience: people with bigger heads who'd spent years looking for a cap that actually fits. Circumference 60–63 cm. Mostly men.
Then orders from women started coming in.
Not occasionally. Regularly. We asked why. The answer was so simple we wondered why we hadn't thought of it sooner.
Why women need an XL cap
A ponytail, a bun, braids, thick wavy hair. All of it adds centimetres to your head circumference. A woman with a head circumference of, say, 56 cm puts on a standard cap — and it fits. But with a ponytail or bun? Suddenly it pinches, doesn't sit right, looks odd. A regular "one size" cap simply has nowhere to give.
An XL baseball cap solves this. The deeper crown gives your hair room. The wider circumference doesn't squeeze. And the cap still looks like a normal cap — not like a tent on your head. It sits naturally, holds its shape, and nobody can tell it's XL — unless you tell them.
Most XL cap brands completely ignore this. They market exclusively to men. Women, hairstyles, and effective head circumference barely come up in the industry. We decided our new baseball cap line would change that.
That's why we didn't just include black and navy. We added white and pink too.
Six colours, a deliberate choice
Black, Navy Blue, Beige — classics that work with most wardrobes. We didn't need to think twice about those.
But we also added White and Pink. Deliberately. Because when you know your audience isn't only male, the colours need to reflect that. No rocket science, just common sense.
And then there's the Black V2 — a black cap with white embroidered logo. For anyone who wants the logo to be part of the style, not just branding.
Organic cotton — in practice, not on paper
The entire collection is made from premium brushed organic cotton twill. That sounds like a marketing line, so let's say what it actually means.
It's softer than conventional cotton — you'll notice the moment you pick the cap up. It breathes better — you'll appreciate that in summer. And it lasts longer, because the fibres aren't weakened by aggressive chemical processing. The densely woven twill also holds its structure — the cap won't lose its shape after the first month.
In the XL cap market, organic cotton is the exception. Most competitors use conventional cotton or polyester. Why did we go this route? Because when someone spends years searching for a cap that fits their big head and finally finds one, that cap shouldn't be made from the first available material. The quality of the fit deserves the same quality in material.
How the XL baseball cap is built
Six-panel construction. Pre-curved brim. Reinforced front panels that hold their shape even after months of wear. Metal-ringed ventilation eyelets on the sides — so you don't overheat in summer.
The logo is embroidered, not printed. Embroidery doesn't crack, doesn't peel, doesn't fade after washing. It has a tactile quality that print never achieves. It's a detail, but details are exactly what separates a good cap from an average one.
At the back, a metal buckle — strapback style. Stepless adjustment — no fixed notches like a snapback. You simply slide the strap to where it fits and fasten.
And of course — everything is designed for a circumference of 60–63 cm. Deeper crown, wider internal band, a buckle that actually closes at 62 cm without being maxed out. No "we added two centimetres to a standard size". The entire cut is designed for a bigger head from the ground up.
